Hi Jason

As usual, nice thinking.

I agree, and tend to look at this type of approach as proof of concept. Test, experiment, learn in the real environment. This process allows you to be much better equipped at the stage when you want to scale it and, often, your proposition has already developed some heritage/credibility/authority from which you can leverage with prospects, investors, c-suite support etc.

Best wishes

Toby Andrews

Thanks for this interesting article Jason.

I just found your site through Mark Bao.

I've been chatting with him recently about entrepreneurship. I'm hoping to start-up something myself soon.

Anyways, good luck with Ramamia and this blog as well.

Thanks! Yup, the two are very closely related in my mind. I think by building for the minimum viable market, you're more likely to build the minimum viable product. If you don't have to service a vast and diverse set of users, you can really keep it simple.

ps- love the title/content of your blog. I've heard great things about the PDX startup community consistently over the past few months. Hopefully I'll check it out one day.

A nice insight. I think a minimum market is oftentimes part of a minimum product. It's useful to think of them separately, though the market is bound to drive the product. But as you say, that's all the more reason to start with a small piece of the market, which will help hone that minimum product message.
